PENRO SDS- “We are staunch advocates of Anti-VAWC. We will continue to provide and improve our services for our clients so that they can live a live that is free from VAW”- #VAWFREEPH

November 25- December 12 is the annual advocacy campaign to END Violence Against Women as mandated by Proclamation 1172 s. 2006. One of the major social problem that our country is facing is the violence against women in any form. Threats of violence can be experienced by every woman of any age, skin, color, gender identity. With current situation our country brought by covid-19 pandemic, it is undeniable that there are women experiencing different kind of violence specially those who are in marginalized and vulnerable sectors. The implementation of various community quarantine may be one of the contributing factors that hindered the victims to seek for help since certain travel restrictions were implemented.
In participation for the opening of 18 days VAW campaign, the PENRO Surigao del Sur headed by GAD Focal Person Planning Officer III Glendel G. Adlawon requested all the PENRO personnel to wear orange t-shirt on November 25,2020 to show that we are one with the government in this campaign and as government agency we have these 3 things to help end VAW. 1).  Equip yourselves with apt trainings and capacity development sessions to improve service delivery for your clients.2) Develop monitoring and evaluation strategy to assess the service to your clients’ supporters.3) Let people know that you provide the services! We need to inform the public that there are government offices that they can turn to and trust to assist them towards healing and seeking justice.
